ANTIQUE MUSIC BOX

I bought this cute little antique music box out in Long Grove a few months ago.  It sits in my bedroom atop an old chest of drawers that presumably was carved in Scotland.   The problem is, now it plays even when closed, so sometimes it wakes me up in the middle of the night or disturbs me when I’m taking my afternoon nap.  Long Grove isn’t exactly around the corner from where I live; I live in Westchester and have no idea where, or who, for that matter, are the mechanical experts of antique art in Chicago.  So I either have to drive all the way back to the little shop in Long Grove to try to fix this thing, or try to pawn it off on some unsuspecting friend or enemy.  Truthfully, I don’t want to do either.  Oh, yikes, there it goes again!  It’s playing that innocuous Lara’s Theme from Doctor Zhivago.  It doesn’t even play the verses, just the chorus, over and over again.  Well, I suppose it’s not really an antique, it just looks like one.  It’s copyrighted 1965 on the back, but I guess that’s old enough, right?  I wasn’t even born until 1970.  But here’s the real problem: my husband’s coming back from his business trip in a couple of days and this started the day after he left.  Will he ever have a fit if he finds out about this thing.  I don’t know what to do.  Maybe I’ll ask Peggy’s teenage kid.  He tinkers around with old cars a lot and seems to know a lot about fixing and taking things apart.  I hate his personality, but maybe I can respect him a little more if I give him this task.
