FORM OF COMMUNICATION

Filed under: Blog — admin @ 10:04 am

When most people hear the phrase “data storage,” they automatically assume the discussion will lead to computer data storage issues. But this issue has been around long before computers were ever even thought of. There are many different tools people have used over the course of history to store important data. The earliest form of communication, even before written language, was drawing. People used images of objects and people to record important events in their cultures and even in their families. The earliest forms of communication discovered so far have actually been works of art etched into cave walls. Written word came centuries after people first began recording data through the use of images and artwork. Even now there are many methods and tools outside of the use of computers that people use to store their data. The use of file drawers, folders, and various other forms of filing techniques are still used much more frequently by many more people than those who store their important data on computers. I feel that computers are not really a huge data storage phenomenon when I look at it from this perspective; it’s simply yet another much more space efficient way of storing our information.
