LUCKY SURVIVAL

Filed under: Blog — admin @ 5:39 pm

Car accident attorneys are quite a few around here, so we did some calling around.  Most wanted us to come in immediately and talk.  This was not possible, as Tara was in rehab five days a week, and is not feeling too strong.  She was lucky she survived.  She had hit the windshield and suffered some nerve damage.  She was acutally in a coma for a week.  I did not think she was going to survive.  I called her brothers and sisters and they came to visit her.  But it was our dog, Barney, that I credit for bringing her around.  The hospital allowed Barney to visit and he rushed into the room and jumped onto the bed.  I thought the nurse in the room at the time was going to have a heart attack of her own.  Tara was in traction and Barney jumping up on the bed shook everything loose.  He started licking her face and she just moaned.  The nurse made me take him off the bed and I left soon after.  But Barney's jumping on the bed had a great effect.  Tara opened her eyes, the first time in a week, and she tried to say something.  I bent close and listened.  I think she was saying Barney's name.  The doctors the next day said that Tara had made a rapid improvement.  I went for a walk after that.  It was cold out, but the air felt good.  For the first time since the crash I believed that Tara would make it.  I walked down to the lake, and it was frozen over, but it was a great day just the same.
