MY MOM THE PARTNER

Filed under: Blog — admin @ 9:57 am

When I was growing up, my mother was a partner at a corporate law firm. There were many times when she would have to leave the country for months at a time to work elsewhere. While she was gone, my father took care of me. There came a point where my parents both decided that it would be better to arrange for an executive relocation to somewhere where we could all be closer together more often. I wasn’t very traumatized by the idea of having to start all over in a new neighborhood since I was still very young. My parents decided that it would be better for me to be relocated at a young age so I wouldn’t feel sad or lonely upon moving when I was older. Once we moved, my mother would be able to travel for work and come back home much more often, since the locations she usually had to travel to were all on the West Coast. She would stay close to the airport when she was away and as soon as she was done, she’d take a short flight home. In time, it worked out so much better for all of us because she was able to do much more of her work from her home office and therefore wound up staying away much less often.
