REGAINING FINANCIAL SECURITY

Filed under: Blog — admin @ 4:58 pm

My dad’s small clothing shop went bankrupt when huge Koko-Mart was build across the street. We were not the only family who went through bankruptcy because of Koko-Mart. Our neighbor’s – wine store, shoe store, bookstore, and furniture store went bankrupt as well. We had no idea what to do. There were no regulations whatsoever that could protect small businesses like ours from this giant corporation. Many families lost not only their businesses; they lost their only source of income. All savings dissolved quickly. My dad had to find a job in order to keep us alive. He worked at a meat factory and almost every day was able to bring some soup bones; sometimes he could bring some liver and hog ears. We were broke, but happy. Meanwhile, people who just as us lost their business filed a law suit against Koko-Mart Corporation and to our big surprise we won it! We were entitled to receive business loss compensation. On money from compensation we were able to open small muffler shop that became our family business. Later on, upon reaching success we found a corporation; therefore, every since, when we are building new shops.  I fly to the place myself just to make sure there are no small businesses who would get hurt by our opening in their districts.
