SAD MEMORIES
I went to visit my grandmother today. She’s been lonely since my Grandpa passed away. She’s finally decided to go through his belongings and give things away. She had boxes out with all his old baseball cards that he was an avid collector of. They’re probably worth quite a bit of money now. He went through a weird faze of collecting different things. For a while it was oriental rugs. I pilfered through them and found some really beautiful ones. Grandma says she remembers when he was going through this rug-collecting fad and saw an ad that there was a big sale for antique oriental rugs in Chicago, so they hopped in the car, drove 5 hours and he felt like he was in heaven. There’s this beautiful brown and cream colored one that I have always adored. I asked Grandma if I could have one for payment of helping her sell the other ones that she wasn’t interested in keeping. She was more than pleased to let me take the one I love. It will look perfect in my bedroom that I have tried to decorate in an antique style. Most things I have bought I have paid a pretty penny for too. I regularly check out ebay.com and all the local vintage and consignment stores.
