THE SUPPORT GROUP
Jim's problems with controlling sugar levels is really getting to him. He does everything right, but is having problems. I don't know what to tell him. He asks almost every day how my levels are, and I tell him. He just nods, but I can tell he is upset that he can't get it evened out. One day at the support group the program director went over various different diets and ways to stay on top of the disease. Jim said he was going to take some of the ideas back to Sue, his wife. Sue is not diabetic, but is really helping to try to keep him on the right path. We walked everyday, except when the weather was really cold. I won't walk in the extreme cold or in the deep snow. Or ice. Ice is the worst. I don't want to kill myself by slipping on the ice and breaking a leg. Wouldn't that be ironic. My levels would be good, but I'd be laid up with a broken leg. Jim and I would joke about this. He went no matter what the weather of the day was. I think that he will eventually get things under control. I'm just glad for the moment that mine is.
