THREE CHILDREN

My mother had 3 children and also had 3 extremely complicated and painful childbirths.  To her credit, she survived all 3 and all 3 of us, her children, lived on.  Her first childbirth (my sister Claudia) was bloody, painful, premature, and also my mother picked up gestational diabetes while carrying her.  That’s a form of diabetes that an expectant mother gets since the process of her body taking care of her unborn child’s somehow blocks insulin production.  But in the end, Mom gritted her teeth and gave birth.  The next birth didn’t involve gestational diabetes, thankfully, but it was even bloodier and more painful.  My brother Jonas came more than a few weeks earlier than expected and the doctors had to use a caesarian section so that he’d make it.  After that, he was placed in an incubator for a few weeks, but finally went home after that and has lived a relatively healthy life since.  And when I was born, the doctors had to use yet another caesarian section, though I apparently didn’t need to be in an incubator though I also came a few weeks prematurely.  To this day though, my brother Jonas has a small bald spot on the back of his head from where they gave him a shot right before putting him in the incubator.
